This book is an attempt to summarise the theory of pluricentricity and to reflect the current state of the discussion. It is intended to help clarify key questions of pluricentricity and promote the further development of the concept.

This volume contains 14 contributions dealing with the most important pluricentric languages in the Americas (Quechua, Tupi, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Dutch). It is the first volume of this kind that has been ever published on this topic.
