Synopsis
An informative, insightful, and at times deeply touching story of a health care refugee and his search for a way to go from bancrupcy to retirement in just a few short years. His desire to live under the sun of an endless tropical summer while still being young enough to enjoy the benefits of retiring there awakens a lifelong interest in early retirement, which is a tradition in his family.
After arriving in Costa Rica and discovering the benefits of social medicine as well as the surprisingly happy people there, he tries to find success the way of the Gringos, by earning more money. As he fails to find happiness as an executive and his wife gets a rare cancer, he is forced to confront the values he learned as a child. He eventually succeeds in finding his own personal values, what he wants to do with his life, and ultimately who he is as a person. Along the way, he discovers how to retire and eventually, how to find true happiness. The book contains information on how readers can prepare for and embark on their own early retirement to the tropics, even if they're almost broke
"An Early Retirement to a Tropical Retirement" is Erich J. Heidemann's second book.
About Erich J. Heidemann
E. J. Heidemann is an author and pharmacology, fitness, science, and nature enthusiast. He retired to the tropics at age 46, where he met and married his gorgeous wife. They spend their time swimming, exercising, and walking their dog, all while discussing their next adventure. E. J. studied Biology Pre-Med before teaching Medical English in Germany, translating and editing Casa Galeria magazine, and writing sales material as Marketing Director for Riverside Developers. He has a caution-to-the-wind, devil-may-care style, which can be seen in his choice of hobbies. He's illegally free soloed in the Garden of the Gods, snorkeled in the shark-infested waters off Puerto Viejo, jumped from the top of one tree to another, been shot in the femur by a ricocheting .44 cal. ball, and has experimented on himself a lot. Want to know what it's like to do something dangerous? Ask him. He's like a living crash-test dummy.
Feeling Younger, Living Stronger is his first book.
