Hidden Depths
One day the mullah was on the market and saw birds, which were sold for five hundred reals apiece. 'My bird', he thought, 'the bigger than all this, is worth much more.'
The next day he took his pet to the market. No one would offer him more than fifty reals for it. The mulla started screaming: O people! That's a shame! Yesterday you only sold half as big birds at ten times the price.
Someone interrupted him: "Nasrudin, these were parrots - talking birds. They are worth more because they talk. "" Stupid head! " said Nasrudin; "You only appreciate these birds because they can talk. Those who have wonderful thoughts and yet do not annoy people with talk, reject them.
