The Fuhrer Has Gone

This partly fictional book reveals the still-secret double-cross scheme Philby and the British secret services brilliantly played on the Soviet Union during the Cold War right up to Philby’s death in May 1988 and helped trigger the demise of the USSR. Named, Operation Tatler it functioned on similar lines to the highly successful World War 11 Double-Cross or XX System, which employed counter-espionage, disinformation and deception operations against the Nazis. Graham Greene, the world-famous British author and wartime MI6 operative, was recruited to run this deception plan under the direct chairmanship of the MI6 director-general. Revealed are the methods Philby used to maintain covert communications from his modest flat in Moscow to Greene in London, and the numerous secret trips Philby made from the USSR to London to brief British intelligence on the Soviet's geopolitical aspirations and provide advanced warning of a major U.K. political assassination.
