Misdirection Book Two

A large set of hair covered legs blocked Felix’s view, so he leaned forward and glanced across at Frank who was seated off to his right. “What’s happening?” he said quietly noting the deafening silence. “Looks like a poor young woman is about to be burnt at the stake,” came the reply Felix didn’t want to hear. “That’s barbaric, where are we?” he asked hoping Frank would know. Frank surveyed the scene in front of him. Three men with lit torches stood to one side of the large bonfire. A large crowd on the opposite side faced Frank and Felix. A collection of dignitaries was seated directly in front of him, in a descending order of importance, just like the grandstand they all occupied. “France, early fifteenth century is my guess.” The hair covered legs between Felix and himself belonged to another being who occupied the last level of the stand. A single chair that contained something very evil. Frank tried to shout but found his voice drowned out by the oppressive silence.
