Synopsis
This monograph has gathered together three extraordinary problems in theoretical physics to be solved exactly. The problems range from the long-standing limit problem of the simple harmonic oscillator in quantum mechanics, the unfolding of a hidden symmetry in the Markovian birth-and-death equations, to the four-hundred-year-old problem of the simple pendulum. Therefore, this monograph is a rare "three-of-a-kind" collection of major essays on seemingly unsolvable problems in physics.
About Derek Daniel
Derek J. Daniel is an Australian theoretical physicist, whose research areas are in theoretical atomic physics,
statistical physics and quantum optics. His recent publication on exact solutions of the famous Mathieu equation
is one of several publications in recognition of solving long-standing problems in theoretical physics by a sole author.
He has also been a Visiting Research Associate and a Visiting Scientist, respectively, at Harvard University and Los Alamos
National Laboratory, while holding a Postdoctoral appointment in the United States of America at the Southern Methodist University.
Currently, Dr. Daniel is temporarily residing in the Grand Bahama, The Bahamas, where he is lecturing under the appointment of an Assistant Professor in physics and mathematics at the University of The Bahamas-North.
