The book also contains some training tips to get you started. I decided to end the book with a true story of Beau, who is also my cover dog! She was a dog that I homed to a family when I worked in Rescue. I have been a trainer for the last 14 years and have spent much of that time working with Rescue dogs either in the kennels or in their new homes. This book contains my thoughts on the best chance to get it right! It is a massive commitment and dogs deserve us to take Rescue very seriously. If this book can help families and dogs join together as forever families then it has done it's job.
About Alexis Robertson
I has been working with dogs since 2009, my passion started when my own dog started to exhibit signs of dog on dog aggression. My training story started with helping out at a local dog training club whilst starting my own dog walking business. The dog walking enabled my days to be spent with dogs which allowed me to observe all sorts of behaviours and breeds. I attended as many seminars, bought as many books as I could. I then attended the PDTI instructors course, this opened up a chance to study and get a qualification in behaviour management at Harper Adam's university.
I set up my own classes and started doing 1:1 training sessions, continuing my learning all the time. I also worked for the Kennel Club as a breeder assessor, allowing me to study breeders and early social learning even more.
Finally, I am in my dream job. I am Animal Welfare Manager at Foal Farm Animal Rescue. I still continue to offer 1:1 training, my aim, to help dogs stay out of rescue.
