Synopsis

This book is a short recipe book divided into the four seasons. It explores the fun of planting, growing, harvesting and preparing food in step with nature. Julia and Peter have an organic garden in which they grow a range of vegetables. They compost their vegetable waste and encourage wildlife into their garden with a nature pond providing home to water snails and beetles, damsel flies and other aquatic insect life. In addition, it attracts birds, squirrels and shrews to drink from it. The descriptions of how to prepare and cook meals is simple and there is a coloured photograph of each dish. Both Julia and her husband have enjoyed an interesting cookery class in Morocco, sat in a stilt hut in Thailand writing down recipe details and Julia has taught cookery in a special school, a day centre and shared interesting afternoons in a nursing home with residents who still enjoyed preparation and baking. This book is for fun. As with the first in the series ‘International Eats Without Meat’ and ‘Entertaining Without Meat’ the message is that you don’t need to be a professional chef to produce an exciting meal for friends and family.

About Julia Tester

Julia is married and lives with Peter and their cat Aries in Somerset. Both Julia and Peter enjoy travel and have visited nearly a hundred countries and all the continents of the world. Julia worked for most of her career in education and support, with people of all ages with additional needs. She has taught cookery in a school, college and day centre as well as encouraging residents in a nursing home to enjoy preparation and baking. Both Julia and Peter enjoy experimenting with different recipes garnered from around the world and have fun sharing these culinary experiences with friends and family. Julia and Peter grow their own vegetables and both are great believers that you do not have to be a professional cook to experience the joy of cooking and healthy eating.
