Synopsis
In March 2020 the Irish Government, in conjunction with most of the world, imposed a lock down on the entire country, significantly limiting the freedoms and movement of the population. This was imposed in response to the outbreak of a health pandemic known as Covid 19 or the Coronavirus, a flu based illness impacting the lives of millions globally. Distancing is a fast paced, short novel which follows the lives of three families in East Dublin, Curtis, Scanlon and Grimes, over a 24 hour period in lock down. Their stories run parallel to one another in which some of the social issues raised by lock down, from depressed teens to the perils faced by front line workers, are highlighted, ultimately bringing the stories crashing together in dramatic fashion. From the author of the German and Rogue Tan comes a gripping novel pertinent to its time.
