Synopsis
Neville Deane is an ex soldier of the King's Regiment and hero of WW1 who struggles to live with the subsequent peace. In 1920, after becoming involved in a drunken brawl in his native Liverpool, he is blackmailed by the local law enforcement into joining an Auxiliary force in Ireland sent to assist the Royal Irish Constabulary during the War of Independence. They are known by the locals as the "black and tans" and after Neville witnesses their sadism and brutality he soon despises his new assignment. In desperation he goes rogue and is enlisted into the 3rd West Cork flying column thus embarking on an unexpected road of action, adventure, suspense and new found friendship as a fledgling nation fights for its freedom.
