Nathaniel was a hopeless romantic in many ways and considered himself to be a film fanatic. He had strong hopes on finding his mate, and his entire search could be related to his passion of movies. Nathaniel's quest for love started at a very young age. He had strong feelings for Maxine. His two closest friends thought they were perfect for each other mainly because Nathaniel and Maxine were the only black kids in their junior high. Nathaniel was adopted and raised by an Irish couple and had become accustomed to and welcomed by classmates and neighbors in his small white town. He was in the middle of eighth grade when a new student walked in his English class. What surprised Nathaniel wasn't that the new boy was black or that he was twice Nathaniel's size. The surprise came a year later when Nathaniel fell hard for this boy's sister. It was only when Nathaniel entered high school that he slowly became introduced to new cultures and races. And in high school came loves and heartaches. On again and off again relationships become second nature to Nathaniel as he searched for his soul mate and this thing called love.
