Synopsis
In the changing rooms, I would sit on the bench watching as the other girls got changed into their Blue and White shirts, white shorts and white socks. I was petrified. Getting changed, I had to stick to my ritual, first on, my shorts, then my shirt tucked into the shorts, my socks which had support
from the white ties (I think it were the fashion back then to have pieces of string tied around the top of your socks ha ha), but instead of going to the sink to wash my boots, I would have to divert to the toilets to be sick, throwing up in the bowl. The nerves often got the better of me and I would be too freaked out, I'd be telling Richard that I can't go onto the pitch. The feeling of scoring my first goal in my first game of my first full season with the club, oh my god, words cannot describe it. We were playing Leeds United at home, I'd been set up good by Emma and I managed to get my head to the ball, straight in, I ran down the line for a few yards, got down on one knee and saluted
