Bawang Merah, Bawang Putih

Bawang Putih, the gentle younger stepsister, works dawn to dusk while her stepsister Bawang Merah takes every ease. When a lost cloth leads her to an old woman's hut by the river, Putih must choose between a small pumpkin and a large one — and her choice reveals what kindness is truly worth. Indonesia's answer to Cinderella, retold in lively English with its warmth, humour, and gentle moral intact.
