Synopsis
Mama Afrika: My Things, Our World is a colourful read-and-do book for children aged 5 to 10 about the things we use, nature, culture and making conscious choices.
Together with Ama and Kojo, children discover where clothing, phones, gold and cocoa come from and what happens after we throw something away. They learn about reuse, repair, second-hand clothing, e-waste, natural resources, galamsey and the journey from cocoa to chocolate.
The book shows that the things we use always have a story. What we buy, use and throw away affects people, communities and nature. That is why children are encouraged to consume more consciously, use natural resources responsibly and discover what they can make, repair, share and change themselves.
Through stories, facts, questions, drawing prompts and creative activities, Mama Afrika connects reading with cultural awareness, self-confidence and care for our world. Children learn not only about Ghana and Africa, but also discover that their ideas and choices matter.
An inspiring book that helps children see their world in a new way and grow into thoughtful, creative and engaged world-makers.
About Nana Fofi
