Synopsis
“People disappear. Children and old folks... that’s just the way it is.”
Gus nodded to himself. “That’s why I never walk around here alone. And I stay away from the old houses.”
“What’s in them?” Klara whispered.
“The pale children.”
Gus grabbed his knife and turned the bacon in the old cast-iron pan. It was clear he didn’t want to talk about it anymore.
Simon told Maja, Klara and Örjan that the old trapper was just trying to scare them with a ghost story. But even Simon had to admit that something strange was happening at High Chaparral.
One evening, the four friends sneak into the park to investigate the old houses. As a violent thunderstorm sweeps across the western town, they discover something far more terrifying than ghosts.
