Synopsis

A Forbidden Church. An Unholy Artifact. The Ancient Terror That Awakens in the Dark. From the window of his Providence apartment, a young writer named Robert Blake becomes obsessively fascinated by a massive, grimly imposing neo-Gothic church that stands abandoned atop Federal Hill. Ignored and feared by the local superstitious immigrants, the decaying structure exerts a sinister, hypnotic pull on Blake's curious mind. Driven by an unhealthy urge for exploration, he finally breaks inside, unlocking a dusty labyrinth of blasphemous books, skeletal remains, and a strange, asymmetrical stone container holding an ancient artifact: the Shining Trazohedron. But by touching the forbidden artifact, Blake accidentally awakens a primordial, cosmic entity that has slumbered in the absolute blackness of the church's steeple since the dawn of time. This monstrous shadow-being can only move in total darkness; the mere touch of city light burns it, keeping it trapped inside the stone walls. But as a series of violent summer storms threatens to plunge the entire city into a massive blackout, Blake realizes with mounting horror that the creature is preparing to leave its lair.

About H. P. Lovecraft

H. P. Lovecraft: “The Pioneer of Cosmic Horror” He was born on August 20, 1890, in Providence, Rhode Island, Howard Phillips Lovecraft led a life deeply marked by tragedy, isolation, and financial hardship. Raised by a troubled family after both of his parents suffered mental breakdowns and died in psychiatric care, Lovecraft grew up as a sickly, reclusive child plagued by vivid night terrors. He spent most of his youth immersed in dark literature and science, which heavily shaped his grim view of the world. Despite his immense talent, he lived much of his adult life in near-total poverty, working primarily as a ghostwriter and editor for pulp magazines like Weird Tales. He died of cancer in 1937 at the young age of 46, completely unrecognized by the mainstream literary world.
