Synopsis
The Swedes are raging, and Bohuslän is in flames. The year is 1612, and a man asks the devil for help to bring back his murdered wife. They flee to the Blackwater on the windswept Broad Fjeld, but soon realize the devil never helps for free.
It’s 2012, Christmas is approaching, and Ylva lies delirious in a psychiatric ward. The doctors are baffled, suggesting psychosis or brain damage, but Raili’s inquiries reveal that Ylva’s condition is connected to some old siblings. Raili reluctantly confides her fears to her uptight library colleague, Solveig, and together they begin to unravel a web of lies, murder, and secrets. As Ylva’s condition worsens, they brave the roaring blizzard to reach Blackwater and save her life.
Unaware of the sinister forces at work, they stumble into a macabre event that draws them inexorably into darkness.
About Lisa Hågensen
Lisa Hågensen was born in Ljungskile on the west coast of Sweden, where she still lives with her husband and their Dalmatian, Molly. Her childhood was filled with football, skiing, boating vacations, large family gatherings at her grandmother’s, and books and stories. She has worked in various professions and raised horses, but the dream of writing a book was always present. In 2017, she decided to pursue that dream, and her debut novel, And Her Eyes Were Blue, the first book in the Raili & Ylva Mystery series, was originally published in Sweden and later in France, Poland, and Denmark.
