FOUR METERS UNDER WATER

The debut novel by Dr. Dimitar Ruskov, "Four meters under water", is the result of the author’s profound spiritual quests, enriched by his twenty years of experience with the lives of immigrants. Through the fate of the three main characters, the novel follows the different stages of their integration — a process in which the pursuit of personal happiness inevitably raises questions such as: "Why are they better than us?", "How can I become like them?", and "Did I have to emigrate to achieve my dreams?" Although the story primarily focuses on Bulgarian characters, the themes it explores are universal: love, jealousy, friendship, faith, sin, forgiveness, and integration as the key to imagined happiness — the very thing each character relentlessly strives for.
