Synopsis

During the midst of World War II, a boy from a small town stumbles across a girl being raped by a Nazi soldier. He ends up unknowingly rescuing her from the misery the war has unleashed upon her, but her sacrifice ends up being a lot larger in return. "A Petty Revenge" is the slow unfolding of a karmic debt following the indulgence of taboo actions. An intergenerational incest saga set in twentieth century Russia, it traces the story of the Krolik family from the war in the small towns around Moscow, through the years of building communism in the capital, and finally through to the consequences several generations down. Everything will seem obvious in hindsight, of course, but the perpetrators of the misdeeds will never be held accountable (unless a petty revenge is eventually deployed).
