The Role of Heuristics in Societal Stability A significant portion of my discourse focuses on heuristics—mental shortcuts used to make decisions. In a complex society, individuals cannot process every piece of information. My view explains that society maintains stability through "Availability Heuristics," where public perception of risk and value is shaped by the most recent or vivid information rather than statistical reality.This leads to a society that may over-invest in preventing rare, dramatic events while under-investing in chronic, long-term issues like climate change or preventative health. According to my opinion, the "behavioral society" is thus characterized by its reaction to perceived rather than actual utility.
