Synopsis
Vázquez was born in nineteen ninety-one, in San Luis, a town thirty kilometers from Santiago de Cuba, and raised by his mother’s family. At twenty-seven, he moved to Hungary, where, after a few employment tribulations, he opened his own restaurant, only to lose it to tax wrongdoings and governmental greed, a loss that was matched with a period marked by several personal tragedies. This ‘great loss,’ as he says, took him down into the (ab)use of organic drugs, ‘to numb the pain.’ Aware that his personal situation wouldn’t be viable in the long term, and unable to aord therapy, he turned his attention inward and allowed himself to follow the messages of his dreams.
This book portrays Vázquez’s personal healing process through fifty-three dreams that Vázquez interpreted using Jungian psycho-alchemy and esoteric tools, such as the Tarot and Kabbalah’s Tree of Life. His healing journey set him on the path of Jungian individuation, leading him to find the ‘salvation from the darkness’ he desperately sought. An extra twenty-four dreams are included, to make a total of seventy-seven dream narratives. Vázquez illustrated all of the images -artwork and digital renderings.
