Synopsis

A Christmas party. A hotel full of secrets. A CEO who is not who he claims to be. When detectives Holger and Egon are called to investigate what appears to be a routine death during a corporate Christmas party, they expect drunk colleagues, bad music, and too much schnapps. Instead, they stumble into a case involving black money, manipulation, identity theft — and a suspicious Santa Claus with far too much muscle mass. As the investigation spirals out of control, Holger must keep a cool head while Egon… does his best not to kick anyone. At least not more than once. This is a satirical crime novel packed with sharp dialogue, dark humor, and an investigation that moves from hotel bars and basements to secret summer houses and even darker motives. A story about: a detective who always thinks ahead a partner who reacts with his feet and a case that never should have involved Santa Claus Perfect for readers who enjoy crime fiction with humor, heart, and characters they won’t forget.

About Lars Hvestendahl

Lars Hvestendahl
Lars Hvestendahl (born 1979) was born and raised in Denmark and now lives in Spain. He writes with warmth, humor, and a strong sense for the human side of life – especially when things turn chaotic, confusing, or just a little too strange. This is Lars’ first work of fiction published on his own, but he has previously co-authored books with his wife, Louise Hvestendahl. Together, they also host a podcast and have written several practical guides about moving to Spain, sharing honest and humorous experiences about relocating, settling in, and making mistakes along the way. Lars writes stories that are easy to read and dyslexia-friendly, without sacrificing tension, pace, or humor. His books are written for readers who may not read often – but who enjoy being entertained, laughing, and getting caught up in a good story. With this book, he invites the reader into a world where crime and comedy go hand in hand, and where ordinary people suddenly find themselves in situations far bigger (and far more absurd) than they ever expected.
