About YUN CHIN

Yun Chin didn’t grow up in a five-star kitchen—he grew up in the kind of kitchen where soy sauce bottles lived on the counter, garlic was crushed by hand, and the wok was the loudest voice in the house. Food was never just food—it was family, identity, and sometimes even therapy. Born into a world where flavors collided—recipes passed down from his Chinese heritage, dishes adapted outside of China, and those unforgettable “improv masterpieces” cooked by his mom—Yun learned early on that cooking wasn’t about perfection. It was about stories. Every dumpling folded, every noodle slurped, every splash of chili oil carried meaning, memory, and love. As Yun grew older, he began traveling, tasting, and scribbling down notes—not only about recipes but also about the people behind them. He realized that the heart of Chinese food doesn’t just live in China. It thrives wherever someone opens a kitchen to laughter, mistakes, experiments, and joy. That’s what inspired this book.
