Wild to wonderful

‘Tell me your story’ every time I hear these words it takes me back to sitting in my year 6 classroom listening to the story of the street child being told. I imagine Jim from street child sitting on the floor telling Dr Bernardo's his story and how it was the start of the charity Bernardo's. Thinking about it and looking back, I think Jim wouldn’t have thought that, the day he was sat telling his story would be the start of something big, and here I am telling my story about being a survivor of domestic abuse, and how I turned a bad situation into a positive, here is me telling my story, and how that I’m hoping that I too like Jim can make a difference, even if it’s to at least one person I know what I endured was worth it to have a voice for survivors and to be a domestic abuse advocate. How might you ask? By helping others. Letting people know that this isn’t the be all and be end all. That there is help out there, and you can break free from what you believe to be the norm and live a happy life. I hope by writing this story I can make a difference to at least one person’s life then I know what happened to me wasn’t all for nothing.
