Synopsis

The first troglodyte who came across a shining, glittering little pebble, astonished by the discovery, offered it to a women for some attention, in the first over the counter gold fixing price. From that remote time to our age, gold mesmerized people to such an extent, that it became the source of wars, crimes, fight for power, literature, art, extraordinary geographical discoveries and in a large sense, the brick at the base of our civilization. Trying to extract that brick from the wall, is trying to pull it down. For thousands of years, gold and silver were the most important medium of exchange and a high liquidity store of value. The common understanding of this fact, lead nations, at the end of the XIX century, to adopt the gold standard. The economic stability and high standard of living of the period, are part of the stories, that our grand fathers told us repeatedly, when we were young. The World War l, produced the greatest loss of wealth in modern history, and the gold standard made its exit soon afterwards. From that moment on, the empire of paper money was established. The empire has its rules.
