In 2015, Anniette Tonen meets 4 Norwegian friends during a trip around Spitsbergen. On this ship they celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their swim club. They swim weekly in a fjord, a little south of Bergen, summer and winter and mostly dressed in woollen bathers. In their new bathers, knitted specifically for this occasion, they brave even the ice cold water of the North Pole. The author was inspired by this meeting to write a book about friendship, family and swimming. Many conversations sitting around the kitchen table in both The Netherlands and Norway eventually led to an illustrated Norwegian tale.
