Synopsis
Aiden White, age 10 is bullied by his uncaring family. He is abandoned in the forest during a bush fire. He falls off the cliff and
enters a cave where he meets “the orange Cockatiel”. The Orange Cockatiel is a mystical birds that grants him the ability to turn anything he touches into a bird. He naturally gets into his fair amount of trouble
turning his least favourite teachers into a galah.
When visiting the Principal of his school he discovers Sienna who is the only person not affected by his ability to transform anything into birds.
She actually has a similar power and the two form a bond that creates quite a complicated world of joy and tragedy. When Sienna changes her much beloved grandmother into a cockatiel she realises that her power is a curse not a joy. The two main characters return to the Orange Cockatiel and have their powers taken away. The theme is that the key to dealing with bullying is to escape into your own imagination.
