Synopsis
The field of plant biotechnology is concerned with developing ways to improve the production of plants in order to supply the world’s needs for food, fiber and fuel. In addition, plants provide us with many pharmaceuticals and industrial compounds. As our population grows, our needs also grow. To increase the quantity of crop production as well as to produce specific characteristics in plants, bio-technologists are using selective gene techniques. Developments in plant molecular biology and genomics now give us access to the knowledge and understanding of plant genomes and even the possibility of modifying them.
About Dr. AWAB YOUNUS
Dr. Awab Younus worked in NDI pharmaceutical company as head of research and development department for 7 years and three years in production plants and worked in Al-Kindy state company in research and development department for 5 years. He worked five years in biotechnology laboratories in university of Mosul (Iraq). He has Bachelor degree in Biology, Master in Biotechnology and Ph.D. in Biology. He published 50 international and national peer reviewed journals research papers including journals with impact factors and he has international patent. His research included work on plant biotechnology, genetic engineering, natural products and pharmaceuticals.
