Synopsis
Maeve and Derek are enjoying a day out in a small market town. Maeve wants to find a bargain in an antique shop - Derek just wants to find a pub. But a painting of a local scene catches his attention, and he faces a race against time to buy it.... 1000 words only!

Adrian Naylor is 48 and lives in Northumberland with his wife and two empty spaces where his kids used to be. There's also a cocker spaniel around somewhere.
Taking up writing as a counterpoint to his finance career, a James Bond novel for self-amusement preceded a series of Stephen King / Stranger Things-style supernatural shorts, two of which grew into novels.
He loves watching ideas grow, characters make their own decisions and watching things not quite turn out as he planned.
