Guernsey is part of a small group of islands which includes Alderney, Sark, Herm, and Jersey which are found off the coast of Normandy. they were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by the German’s, an impregnable fortress was to be built across the Channel Islands as part of the Atlantic wall. The occupation of Guernsey by Germany lasted from 30 June 1940 until the 9 May 1945 and left lasting impression on the islands, not forgetting bunker’s and tunnels.
