Synopsis
Chris Bennett has used her own childhood memories to create the characters that live under the floorboards in her first memorable home; a new semi-detached bungalow. Built in the 1960s, Les and Eva had bought this property and lived there with their two children, Lesley and Christine. Chris uses her imagination and tells a story of the faces she had seen within the lino floor covering. The faces would appear after the characters had been deemed a hero by the folk beneath.
The story tells of the Woodville village folk, so named because they make everything from wood. They exchange items after rummaging in Les’ garage, or the surrounding areas. This story explores family life, which sometimes appears to be parallel to Woodville.
Beyond the Lino Floor tells of the issues the imaginary villagers needed to overcome, and how they would work on creating their village whilst the occupants of the bungalow slept until one night when Christine discovers their presence..
A charming story which allows imaginations to develop and things we can see in patterns to come alive through story writing.
