For a richer quality of life Dave and his young family relocate to rural south of France. Despite a challenging debut they eventually secure a rambling old property which, although not ideal, is better than camping. Already speaking French, Urs has little difficulty finding a job locally and the children are soon integrated into French culture. However, in order to support this venture, although driving for a French company, Dave is doomed to travelling the length and breadth of Britain. Could there be a situation more perverse? This amusing yet touching tale of human frailty questions our response to challenges, to self fulfilment and sense of belonging. It should appeal to anyone with an interest in 'the open road' and perhaps add a few pointers to those who might be considering a cultural change. Mostly, it should ring chords with anyone who has ever dreamed of raising the perfect family.
